Offering the key adults within every child’s life the knowledge, understanding and support required to nurture and develop every child’s full potential.
What is the Process?
The Nurturing Childhoods Accreditation follows a setting-based action-research model. Designed to support knowledge and understanding, while being driven by the specific needs of the setting.
Underpinned by the Department for Education (England) Professional Development Standards, these are applied throughout. With wrap around materials to support your reflections and structure your actions.
Rooted in pedagogical content and the care and education of children in the early years, each session is tailored to offer the support you need to see practice consistently build and develop over time.
Structured using the Nurturing Childhoods format of Introduction; Knowledge; Understanding and Support.
The sessions are intended to become a part of your settings monthly meeting cycle. Driven by the manager and leadership team to illustrate your full commitment to the process.
Every month, the next session is introduced as part of a continual development cycle.
Firstly with a Pre-Session sheet to invite discussion, then with a pre-recorded training session, to be followed by a Post-Session reflection and structured Action Plans.
All of which builds into a personalised Course Assessment Portfolio.
The Structure of The Nurturing Childhood Accreditation
Pre-session reflections ~ Post-session reviews ~ Personalised Action Plans
Every session has a Pre-Session Sheet detailing the objectives and learning points to follow. Focused on this content, it will invite you to reflect on your current practice, knowledge and understanding, and allow you to identify how you can most effectively develop.
Underpinned by the DfE Teachers’ Professional Development Standards, child development theory and practical application, recorded sessions are designed to support your reflective practice. Along with the “Pause for Thought” moments built in.
The Post-Session Sheet invites you to reflect on the objectives and learning points of the session while it is still fresh in your minds. It asks questions and challenges your understanding. So that with collaboration you can focus your developing practice.
A targeted Action Plan designed to be completed by the staff team. While suggesting areas of focus, it allows ownership of agreed actions to be retained by you. Building over time into improvements that are realised through children’s experiences.
Course Assessment Portfolio
Each month, completed Pre- and Post-Session Sheets begin to provide the evidence for a digital Course Assessment Portfolio.
The Action Plans, together with sections that invite reflection on the impact of the changes being made, complete this process.
Focused on the content of each session and with particular attention on children’s experiences and outcomes, these are tailored to the specific needs of your setting and families.
Developing reflective practice
Designed over three levels of accreditation, you will be supported to Create Nurturing Childhoods, Develop Nurturing Childhoods and Embed Nurturing Childhoods.
Each of these levels consist of twelve training sessions, offering you continuous professional development, reflection and action.
And once combined with the tailored focus and development of the team, translates into realised improvements that consistently develop in line with the settings needs and external requirements.
The only accreditation offering parents the same knowledge, understanding and support through their own suit of online materials.
Mirroring the content and format of the Nurturing Childhoods parenting courses, the Nurturing Childhoods Accreditation is underpinned by;
