Good practices from the start

The fact that you are interested in Nurturing Childhoods and the talks that are included suggests that you are aware of the impact your choices have on your child.  These choices may be how you chose to live your life. Whether you walk in the countryside at weekends or spend time as a family when you eat a meal.  However you raise your child, the impact of your decisions and actions will take root from the very first days, so be sure to know the good practices you can begin from the start.

Every choice you make is having an impact on your child

They may also be about the parenting choices you make for your child every day. These choices may ask if it is important to read your
child a bedtime story every night? Or how you should deal with difficult behaviours. You will be making choices for your child  constantly and often without realising it.

The actions and practices you follow make a real difference in how they grow and develop

But each of these choices will have an effect on your child’s development, affecting them in both positive and negative ways.  In this talk we are going to be looking at the thinking behind positive practices that you can begin right from the start. Beginning, almost right at the beginning, we will look at the months of pregnancy. We will then consider practices that you can embed straight away to support your child’s ongoing development and give them the best opportunities for success.

This session is taken from our course: What Every Parent Should Know
