Getting Mathematical is a CPD Booster sessions. These shorter sessions are designed to offer you some quick inspiration or targeted support in specific areas of your practice.
In this session then we will be looking at Getting Mathematical. And understanding what this really means in the early years.
Demystifying misconceptions and focusing on what really makes the difference
As we de-mystify concerns, we will look at the kind of introduction to maths children need during their early experiences. While at the same time acknowledging the huge difference that we can make.
We will look at the foundational pillars of mathematical thinking that you can easily embed throughout your setting. At every age. Exploring ways of playing with maths and offering your children the experiences that will make all the difference. Both to their later understanding of mathematical concepts, and their ability for abstract thought.
More than simply a set of recommended activities to follow
You will gain an understanding of why you are introducing doing certain things and the benefits they are offering, ready to answer any questions or concerns that your parents – or visitors to the setting may have.
And of course, lots of support in delivering this throughout your setting.
