Nurturing Secure Children – Ongoing Continual Professional Development

Nurturing Secure Children will support you and your team to understand and manage children’s emotions. And the behaviours they prompt. Through these talks you will then gain support as you reflect on your practice; and be guided as you use these reflections. Making informed decisions that are right for you, your children and your setting.

Managing emotions and behaviours is something children deal with every day. Because of this, their emotions will be experienced positively through happiness, love, and joy.  They will also be experienced through negative emotions of fear, anger and jealousy.   When children feel these emotions at the right time, and to the right extent, they are a natural, healthy, and necessary part of growing up.  The trouble comes however, when these emotions are not being well managed.

Through these sessions you will then learn to Understand children’s emotions, ready to support them as they are felt. Even when this triggers difficult behaviours ~ Managing Children’s Behaviour. Or when they are intensified by the behaviours of their friends ~ Managing emotions in a social world.

The Nurturing Childhoods Format

Rooted in child development, each session follows the Nurturing Childhoods format of Knowledge, Understanding and Support. Because of this, as you work through the sessions and participate in discussions, you can reflect on your practice with informed confidence. And as you recognise the practices you need to celebrate – and with the help you need to challenge others – you can begin to make effective changes. Changes that will help improve your children’s experiences with you.

All the sessions within Nurturing Secure Children also have complementing sessions available for your parents. Allowing you to work together, as you develop the potential of every child.
